Here is a good beginning reading list. As I encounter new books, I will add them to the list. Some of these are audio books and some are hard copy. I put links to audible.com and amazon.com at the bottom of the page.

The Middle Way
(Unabridged): The Story
of Buddhism
Jinananda

This is an audio book and the reading is very pleasurable. One of the best overview books on the subject of Buddhism that I have ever heard. Jinananda uses traditional literature to bring the Buddha and his followers to life. You follow the Buddha through his spiritual journey, his experiments with deep trances and severe renunciation and asceticism, and finally to his discovery of the middle way.
